ISOTOPE FILMS was established in 2007 to develop and produce non-fiction based content to illuminate, transform and inspire. Distributor and collaborators include: IFC/Sundance Selects, HBO, OWN, PBS, Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, VICE, (RED) and many more. Founded by award-winning producer, Chiemi Karasawa, the company is based in New York City.
CHIEMI KARASAWA is the director and producer of "Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me", and the producer of: "The Betrayal: Nerakhoon" (Academy Award Nominee, Emmy Award Winner), "Billy The Kid" (SXSW / LA / Edinburgh Film Festival Winner), "Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction", "Aretha Franklin: Amazing Grace" and "Love, Etc". She has also produced short documentaries, PSA’s, and web content for (RED) Bono's AIDS organization. Prior to her career in documentaries, she worked in narrative film, television and commercial production for over 20 years alongside such notable directors as Spike Jonze, Jim Jarmusch, Larry Clark, Sam Mendes, Stephen Frears and Martin Scorsese as a Script Supervisor. She has served as a speaker on Documentary Producing at NYU, SVA, and the Woodstock Film Festival, and has served on Documentary Screening Committees for The Spirit Awards and the Gucci/Tribeca Documentary Fund. She is currently working on "Blue Note Records: Beyond the Notes", a documentary about the renowned jazz label, "I Am Jane Roe" about the infamous Norma McCorvey, and in development on a feature film based on a true story.
